We will need volunteers for the June Pancake Breakfast and fly-in. There is a sign-up sheet in the lounge at Middlefield. Please sign up wherever you can—we will be recruiting volunteers for the next few weeks. Cris Takacs made up some great signs for this event. Please take some and place at the office, stores, airports, wherever you can to promote this event.

EAA AirVenture 2003
Word from EAA headquarters,
our Chapter has an opportunity to make AirVenture an even more special year for
some of our key Chapter members by nominating them for one of the Chapter
Awards that are presented each year at AirVenture. Nomination packets containing an explanation
of each award, along with the nomination forms were sent to each Chapter
president for the following awards: EAA
Major Achievement Award, EAA Newsletter Editor Award, EAA
Web Editor Award. Deadline for
nominations is
EAA headquarters also tells
us they have a fly-in guide on the web that can help our Chapter plan for
fly-ins. In addition, there is a
reference paper that outlines Pilot Proficiency Events that can be conducted
that are within our Chapter insurance program.

International Young Eagles
Day is June 14. Young Eagle Award
nominations are now open. These awards
were established to recognize outstanding efforts on behalf of the Young Eagles
Program. The awards will be presented
during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2003 at a special ceremony held on July 30. Categories are: Outstanding Field Representative; Outstanding
Chapter Coordinator; Outstanding Ground Support Volunteer; Horizons
(recognizing programs or services developed to further extend the reach of the
Young Eagles Program to young people); and a Young Eagles Humanitarian award
(recognizing special efforts for special people). If you have someone in mind (HUMMMMM…….)
forward a letter of nomination along with any background materials to: Young Eagles Office, Attention Awards
