APRIL'S MEETING PROGRAM

Chuck Sluzarcic of CGS Hawk fame and well known TV celebrity will give
his behind the scenes experiences off of the latest Junkyard Megawars which
he was the judge.  The competition was between a French, American and
British team to build the best "vintage" aircraft from materials of the early
1900s.

Also we will discuss the upcoming pancake breakfast for June 21st.

MEMBERS GET MORE THAN TAN AT SUN-N-FUN

An update on Sun-n-Fun.  Good times were had by all.  Members who
attended were Mark Schaden, Mike Toman, Tim Connor, Jack Plavcan and Randy and
Naomi St.Julian.  There may have been others, but this editor didn't see
them.
Also there with his ultralights was Chuck Sluzarcic.  Rumor had it that
he threw quite a party Thursday night.  The sun was great, the planes were
awesome and the camaraderie not to be equaled.  And the trip home for
most of us was interesting to say the least.  IMC was in the picture with
fronts and numerous cells and convective airmets to deal with.  As of this
date, we hope no unreported members are still  stranded in Florida.

Some really great airports were discovered on the way home in Georgia
and Tennessee that had apartments for use and the works.  Red carpet
treatment was the fare of the day.  Anyone wanting more info, ask this editor (if
you don't have more than 5 minutes, don't bother).

Special note to Vince and Lillian:  Pictures were taken of RV-6 paint
schemes.  See Editor for details!

MEIGS IS CLOSED

If you live in a box or don't have a computer, you might not be aware
that Chicago's Mayor Daly decided, under the cover of darkness, to bulldoze
the runway at Meigs.  His wimpy reason was that he was afraid of terrorism.
Check out the AOPA website for details and how you can make your
opinion known.  Just another example of the importance aviation is given around
here.

NEW ASOS

Lorain/Elyria Ohio (Lorain County Regional LPR) has a new frequency for
their ASOS.  It is now 121.425, effective as of February 19.

MILESTONES

Some of you may remember Tina Visco who was not a member of EAA5, but a
member of other local chapters and participated in our Young Eagles
program.  Tina's position at NASA was relocated and she moved to
California.  She had to get her Cessna 120 there, and documented the
flight at the following website which you might find interesting.
http://cessna120.bravepages.com.  She arrived safely in mid-March.

AIRPLANE INTERNET HUMOR

A student became lost during a solo cross-country flight.  While
attempting to locate the aircraft on radar, ATC asked, "What was your last known
position?"  Student:  "When I was number one for takeoff."

"Flight 2341, for noise abatement turn right 45 degrees."  "But Center,
we are at 35,000 feet, how much noise can we make up here?"  "Sir, have
you ever heard the noise a 747 makes when it hits a 727?"

There's a story about the military pilot calling for a priority landing
because his single engine jet fighter was running "a bit peaked."  Air
Traffic Control told the fighter jock that he was number two behind a
B-52 that had one engine shut down.  "Ah," the pilot remarked, "the dreaded
seven-engine approach."
